The name "peel" can be a bit misleading at first. Since our AHA peel isn't a mechanical exfoliant, you don't need to rub it into your skin. You simply apply it in the evening and let your skin "exfoliate" overnight. Or rather, renew it. We use a combination of alpha and beta hydroxy acids, or AHA and BHA for short, for this purpose. Alpha hydroxy acids easily bind water, restoring the precious moisture and elasticity of your skin cells. BHA—also known as salicylic acid—effectively binds sebum and dirt.
Furthermore, both AHA and BHA have an exfoliating effect, meaning they accelerate the shedding of dead skin cells. This gently frees your skin of dead skin flakes, giving you a fresh, radiant complexion. This also makes it easier for other valuable active ingredients to penetrate the deeper layers of your skin. However, for skin conditions such as rosacea, couperose, and neurodermatitis, we recommend consulting your dermatologist.
AHA or BHA?
In principle, we can say that AHA peels are more suitable for people with dry, dehydrated, normal, and mature skin, as alpha hydroxy acids hydrate the skin well and contribute to skin regeneration, especially for wrinkles and age spots. Our AHA peel also contains a low concentration of BHA, making it a good all-rounder for combination skin and anyone who can't decide.
While BHA peels are recommended for oilier or blemished skin, salicylic acid (BHA) unclogs pores, regulates sebum production, and combats inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory properties also make BHA suitable for those with sensitive skin conditions, such as rosacea.
