Het verschil tussen micellar water en een toner

The difference between micellar water and a toner

Both toner and micellar water are used to remove makeup, yet there's a significant difference between them. We've noticed some confusion. In this blog post, you'll discover which to use, when to use it, and why. Both deserve a place in your bathroom cabinet.

What is a toner?

A toner is part of your daily cleansing routine. After cleansing your face with a cleanser, the toner removes any remaining residue. Water unbalances the skin's pH, leaving the skin barrier temporarily unprotected. A toner immediately restores the pH balance. A toner is gentler, containing fewer cleansing ingredients and more conditioning agents. Its purpose is to restore, hydrate, and soothe your skin.

A toner for sensitive skin is alcohol-free.

The toners you find at My Dear are cruelty-free and vegan. Do you have one in your bathroom cabinet? Be sure to check that it doesn't say "Tonic" on it. If it does, it likely contains alcohol, which can dry out your skin.

Which toners do we have in our range?

We have toners for various skin types. Like this one from Salonnepro, which will improve your skin. The SPA toner is packed with aloe vera and is truly effective against acne. This is a top product for those looking to improve their skin.

We also have two Naobay toners in our range: one that works on hydration, ideal for dry skin and those with normal skin. Another for sensitive skin, which can also be used by anyone.

How do you use a toner?

So, you read that right: you use toner after cleansing your face. Spray the toner onto a reusable cotton pad and rub it over your face. Then, tap the toner in with your fingers.

What is micellar water?

Micellar water, contrary to its name, isn't just plain water. It's a watery liquid with a high number of cleansing particles. Unlike regular water, it can remove makeup, as well as oil, sweat, and dust particles from urban pollution.

Micellar water is a soap-free cleanser. You can use it in the morning before your toner. You can also use it in the evening to remove makeup, sweat, oil, and other residues from your face.

Note: Micellar water is a superficial cleanser. It doesn't do the same job as a regular cleanser. It's more of a pre-cleanser to remove the most stubborn dirt.

What micellar waters do we have in our range?

Currently, we only stock Naobay because we're the biggest fan of it in terms of price and quality. This product is, of course, vegan, cruelty-free, and completely free of nasty ingredients!

How do you use micellar water?

Apply it to a cotton pad and remove makeup from your face. Then follow with a toner.
